# ATP Certification: Why Annual Testing Is the Foundation of Cold Chain Trust
The ATP Agreement (Accord Transport Périssables) is an international treaty governing the transport of perishable foodstuffs. It dictates the thermal efficiency coefficients for refrigerated vehicle walls and cooling units.
How ATP Testing Works
Refrigerated trailers undergo comprehensive thermal coefficient ($K$-value) testing. The $K$-value measures the amount of heat that passes through the insulated body per square meter when there is a temperature difference between the inside and outside.
- **FRC Certification**: Refers to Heavy Insulated Equipment (R) with Class C cooling units capable of maintaining any temperature between -20°C and +12°C in ambient conditions of up to +30°C.
- **Annual Audits**: At iCold, we do not wait for the standard 6-year expiration. Our trailers undergo annual thermal inspections and preventative cooling unit servicing to guarantee maximum reliability.
By strictly adhering to ATP regulations, we ensure that whether driving through a hot summer in Iraq or a freezing winter in Poland, your cargo stays in its optimal climate.
